DIPLOMA IN COMPUTER SCIENCE AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
The Department of Computer Science offers Diploma in Computer Science and Information Technology. This program has been designed to develop skills in information acquisition, processing, handling, retrieval and presentation. It provides balanced coverage of the various aspects of Computer Science and Information Technology and covers theory and practical experience that will allow the diploma holders to meet the challenge of today's technology. It acts as a conversion course and is intended for those who want to become computer professionals.
DURATION:
It is a one year duration program that comprises of two semesters. Each semester has 18 weeks duration.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants for admission to Diploma in Computer Science & Information Technology must have passed with at least 45% marks, Intermediate (Part I and II, or equivalent examination), or I.Com or ICS or DAE or ‘A’ level examinations
or a valid Bachelor’s degree.
“The General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE)
‘O’ levels and School Certificate (SC) examinations are considered equivalent to
Matriculation, and the GCE ‘A’ levels is considered equivalent to the Intermediate examination. For the GCSE (‘O’) and SC examinations, grades in 06 subjects are considered. ‘A’ level candidates must have passed 3 subjects”.
MATHEMATICS DEFICIENCY COURSE:
Candidates without knowledge of Mathematics will be considered for admission but are required to take an additional ‘Deficiency Course’ during their first semester. However, candidates already qualified Mathematics at Intermediate or Bachelor level would be exempted from Mathematics Deficiency Course.
ASSESSMENT OF STUDY PROGRESS:
The students’ study progress evaluation mechanism is
based on continuous assessment throughout the semester by giving assignments, online quizzes, Graded Moderated Discussion Boards (GMDBs), mid-term and final term examinations.
AWARD OF DIPLOMA:
For the award of Diploma in Computer Science and Information Technology, a student is required to complete at least 36-credit hour’s course work requirements with minimum CGPA of 2.00 out of 4.00
